What are tips/procedures that you have found for successfully communicating with people inside of your congregation?

We make use of social networking sites such as Facebook and meetup in advertising programs. We have an information island full of program brochures and staffed with people who can talk about programs. We use our website and a pamphlet rack
Conversation and literature table during coffee hour after Sunday service
Email lists
We have brochures for various social justice activities including the social action committee ("SAC") and Making the Most of Our Money program.
The Green Sanctuary ("GS") committee brochure explaining the purpose and process of Green Sanctuary certification, church newsletter, order of worship inserts, email lists (general GS committee list and a Green Info list for sharing specific environmental information), GS bulletin board, , information table and conversation at coffee hour.

Northshore Unitarian Church

We now have weekly emails going out to all of our congregants including timely updates. This update is called "news to uuse", and I believe it has disseminated news about Social Action to more members than knew about us before.
We also have about 50 members of a SAC google group. We send out emails to this group when we have specific information to distribute

Congregational Newsletter: We try to have a column in the newsletter re Peace & Justice issues twice a month.
Order of Service : Announcements re upcoming events
Tabling in Church Lobby: Have different occasions for tabling re Petition drive or Letter signing with specific issues
Bulletin Board in the lobby has our postings. For Sept./October, our focus is on the International Day of Peace. Green Sanctuary also has a bulletin board in the lobby.
Listserve Announcements.
Word of mouth or phone calls for outreach.
Repeating the message multiple times and in multiple ways helps to get some visibility
Consulting with the ministers re upcoming sermons, activities that may have a social justice connection.
UCE has developed a Church Council which all committee chairs try to attend. It's a way to enhance communication between the different groups to help coordinate activities.
